This ticket is administered by the ministry of Culture – Cusco (DRC-C) that includes different activities within the same Archaeological Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. These Tickets must be acquired with a considerable anticipation time even more if you are planning to travel in high season between the months of June, July and August for which there is an availability of 2500 tickets per day at the points of sale authorized by the Ministry of Culture at the headquarters in Cusco and Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town) or by internet.
It is worth mentioning that from 2019 the entrance and visit to the National Archaeological Park of Machu Picchu is done at different times, they can be at 6 – 7-8-9-11-12-14, depending on the availability, specified by the Regional Directorate of Culture- Cusco (DRC-C).

Ticket to Machu Picchu

This entrance ticket to Machu Picchu includes:

1. The entrance and complete tour of the entire citadel of Machu Picchu.
2. Visit to the Inca bridge.
3. Visit to the Sun Gate.
4. Visit of the Manuel Chávez Ballón Museum (once the tour is over).

IMPORTANT NOTE: It is worth mentioning that we only have one opportunity to enter Machupicchu, if for some reason you leave Machupicchu (archaeological zone) you will not longer have a second chance to re-enter.

Ticket to Machu Picchu + Huayna Picchu Mountain

This ticket is for the tour of the citadel of Machu Picchu, it also allows the ascent to the mountain of Huayna Picchu, there are two turns to climb, the first being between 7 – 8 am, and the second at 10-11 am. The tour takes approximately 2 and a half hours depending on the physical state in which you are and there are only 400 tickets available per day for the ascent to the mountain of Huayna Picchu. So we recommend booking many months in advance.

Ticket to Machu Picchu + Machu Picchu Mountain

If you did not find tickets to the Huayna Picchu mountain this ticket to the Machu Picchu mountain is a very good alternative. This entrance ticket allows, in addition to the tour of the archaeological zone of Machu Picchu, to climb to the top of the Machu Picchu mountain in a time of approximately 3 hours, where there are only 500 tickets available per day. It is a much less crowded tour than the Huayna Picchu where we can see spectacular views from which the most famous photos of Machu Picchu are taken.You can also appreciate part of the Vilcanota and Vilcabamba mountain ranges.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you booked “Machupicchu plus any of these mountains”, you do have the option to leave the archeological zone and re-enter a second time.

How to buy tickets?

In the middle of the year 2011 the option of buying the entrance tickets through the Internet was enabled. But the options of buying tickets are also maintained when arriving in the city of Cusco or in Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo).
Tourists who plan to visit Machu Picchu are recommended to buy tickets to Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu by the internet. Those who expect to buy when arriving in Peru, either because they do not have a credit card or because they do not know exactly what date they will be in Machu Picchu, are exposed to not getting tickets for the desired date and more if it is on dates where there is a lot of flow of tourists to Machu Picchu.

Where to buy tickets to Machu Picchu?

In Cusco:

This option is still valid, you can buy the entrance to Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu in Cusco, with the option to pay by cash or international credit card.

In Aguas Calientes

You can also buy in Aguas Calientes, but you can only pay in cash. Do not forget that buying in Peru is very likely not to get entrance to Huayna Picchu or Machupicchu Mountain.

But they will need an International Visa credit card (Visa only accepted) enabled to purchase by Internet. In this last point they will have to consult the card issuing bank.
