In this short 2-day trek, you will have the option of walking the original route to reach Machupicchu, as well as knowing and learning about the flora such as orchids, bromeliads, as well as the fauna such as the spectacled bear, snakes and diversity of birds endemic to this jungle and mountain ecosystem.
The 2-days Inca Trail begins with pickup from your hotel at 4:00 am and then departs to the train station in Ollantaytambo for approximately 2 and a half hours, where we will take the train that will take us to km 104, the starting point of the short Inca Trail. Before starting we will go through the control booth to check the tickets for the short Inca Trail, from this place we will begin a three-hours walk until we reach the Archaeological site of Wiñaywayna which is located at 2600 meters of altitude, in this place we will eat our box lunch and take a short break then we will continue walking until we reach the Inti Punku (Gate of the Sun) from this place we will be able to appreciate the Inca city of Machu Picchu. Then we will descend for 45 minutes until we reach the bus station and board the bus to the Aguas Calientes City (Machu Picchu Pueblo). We will also have time to visit the hot springs of Aguas Calientes, which is located 25 minutes far from the hotel, this activity is optional.
At night you will have dinner and spend the night at the hotel.
We will get up early to have breakfast at the hotel and then board the bus to get the entrance gate of Machupicchu in a 25-minute trip. At the entrance we will have 2 and a half hours of guided tours of the most representative places of the citadel, we will visit the guard house, the Inca’s house, the sundial, the sacred stone and the condor temple, until it is time to say goodbye to Machu Picchu and descend by bus or hiking to Aguas Calientes. There we will take the train to Ollantaytambo, where transportation will be waiting for us to return to Cusco.
